Lary named Athlete of the Year - Tuscaloosa native Joe Lary was honored on Dec. 12 as the Alabama Sports Festival 2008 Athlete of the Year.<br>Lary, a former member of the University of Alabama track team where he earned a degree in biology in 1968, competed in eight events at the Sports Festival Games in Birmgham.
