- MONTOMGERY | Tuscaloosa Academy forced 27 turnovers and cruised to a lop sided 51-19 win against tournament host Hooper Academy (6-12). <br>Omari Horne made the all-tournament team, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the championship game. Tevin Moore scored 13 points, and Chris Gaines had 10 points and six steals.

Lary named Athlete of the Year
- Tuscaloosa native Joe Lary was honored on Dec. 12 as the Alabama Sports Festival 2008 Athlete of the Year.<br>Lary, a former member of the University of Alabama track team where he earned a degree in biology in 1968, competed in eight events at the Sports Festival Games in Birmgham. He won a gold medal in all eight events.
